The most immersive arena experience in the UK and Ireland

The O2 Belfast is one of the UK and Ireland’s premier live entertainment and sports venues, hosting up to 11,200 guests across a diverse calendar of concerts, sporting events, and major productions. As audience expectations evolved and the venue’s digital infrastructure aged, The Odyssey Trust invested in a complete transformation of the bowl’s digital capabilities.

IUF delivered the project: more than 500sqm of high-brightness 3.9mm Yaham LED technology across a 200-metre ribbon encircling the full arena bowl and four large-format corner scoreboards each measuring 10 metres by 5.5 metres. Together, they create a connected digital canvas visible from every seat in the venue.

At the heart of the system is a multi-sport scoreboard solution integrated with the Navori CMS, giving The O2 Belfast the flexibility to combine live game data, dynamic content, fan engagement, and partner activations across the ribbon and scoreboards, whether the event is a Belfast Giants ice hockey game, a major concert, or anything in between.

The installation creates a fully connected digital environment across the bowl, with two complementary display formats working together:

200-metre LED ribbon – 1.5 metres high, encircling the full arena bowl, delivering continuous content across the entire venue perimeter. Visible from every seat, the ribbon carries event branding, messaging, visual effects, and real-time content that integrates with what is happening on stage or on the ice
Four corner scoreboards – each measuring 10 metres by 5.5 metres (55sqm), providing high-impact, large-format display at key sightline positions around the bowl. Essential game information, dynamic content, fan engagement moments, and partner activations all delivered at scale

For live entertainment, the infrastructure gives promoters and event organisers a powerful additional platform to integrate branding and visual content into the wider audience experience. For Belfast Giants home games, the multi-sport scoreboard system integrates live game data with dynamic content and in-arena entertainment across both display formats simultaneously.

Implementation

A summer-long installation completed in time for the return of arena events and the Belfast Giants ice hockey season.
