Overview

HMV came back. The store needed to prove it.

HMV’s return to the high street was a cultural statement as much as a commercial one. The brand needed a physical presence that could justify the comeback, one that felt as bold and current as the music and entertainment culture it represents. Static posters and legacy AV were not going to do it.

IUF delivered the original digital transformation: a national rollout across 16+ locations replacing static window displays with custom high-brightness LED totems, and at Oxford Street a full AV flagship experience with a wrap-around LED entrance, a 4.5m in-store ticker, and a JBL sound system that made the store feel unmistakably HMV.

That foundation became the launchpad for something bigger. Building on the infrastructure and the relationship, IUF went on to design and scale HMV’s retail media network, starting with 30 stores in 2023 and growing to 75 today, a 150% increase that reflects HMV’s continued investment in its digital estate.
